• Attention is paid to reducing greenhouse gases throughout the entire value creation process
  • The KIEHL logistics and competence centre has been operated without fossil fuels such as gas and heating oil since 2008. Heating and air conditioning take place using geothermal probes and water heat pump technology. Additional heating using wood chips/wood pellets only takes place at very low outside temperatures
  • The photovoltaic system on the roof of the logistics centre makes the building a “plus-energy industrial building
  • All forklifts and industrial trucks are powered by electricity
  • The numerous other measures which have been taken mean that despite increasing production volumes, greenhouse gas emissions (CO2 equivalents) will be reduced by approximately 50% in 2023 in comparison to 2021 for the central plants in Odelzhausen (EN ISO 14064, scope 1+2)
  • The CO2 emission equivalents were reduced from more than 20 kg per tonne of production in 2018 to approx. 9.3 kg/tonne in 2023 (EN ISO 14064, scope 1+2)
  • We want to achieve climate neutrality without compensation by making further direct investments in the KIEHL locations and the KIEHL value creation chain
  • The climate neutrality with compensation which was achieved in 2023 (for the central plants in Odelzhausen, scope 1+2 in accordance with EN ISO 14064) represents a transitional solution for us. We make donations in order to support the Munich district “Aktion Zukunft+” (Action Future+) initiative in its regional climate protection projects “Forest conversion in Forstenrieder Park” and “Renewable energies in the global south”
